Three committees – the Credentials Committee, the Tellers Committee and the Committee on Committees – were appointed during the state convention’s opening session Nov. 19.
State Convention President Mike McLemore announced the appointments 30 days prior to the annual meeting in accordance with bylaw requirements, but the appointments needed to be ratified by the messengers during the meeting.
The convention Credentials Committee helps with problems regarding registration and seating of messengers.
Serving as chairman of the committee was Tommy Turner of First, Pleasant Grove. Working with him were *Marjorie Duncan, Hilldale Baptist, Birmingham; *Dick Flournoy, Lakeside Baptist, Birmingham; Dewin Hayes, First, Cullman; *Marjorie Linn, Shades Mountain, Birmingham; David Lowery, First Baptist, Carbon Hill; and Paul Murphy, First Baptist, Arab.
Tellers Committee members helped convention officers tabulate convention votes. Jeffrey Vanlandingham of Green Valley, Birmingham, served as chairman. Other members were Chris Burns, Bethel, Odenville; *Jerry Cross, Lakeside, Birmingham; Wayne Crumpton, First, Alabaster; J. Warren Culver, Capitol Heights, Montgomery; *Bobby Keith, Green Valley, Hoover; and Bill Percy, Odena, Sylacauga.
The following were also elected to serve on the Committee on Committees with terms expiring in 2005: Mike E. Shaw, First, Pelham, who will also serve as chairman in 2005; Gregory E. Belser, Morningview, Montgomery; and Kenneth W. Bush, First, Eufaula.
