Elizabeth Meadows is someone you should know. After 30 years of service, she recently retired from the treasurer position at Herren’s Grove Baptist Church, Woodland.
Q: Why have you served as treasurer?
A: When it came to election day, they kept voting me in. I had a lot of fun and I would still be it if they wanted me to, but for health reasons I had to come out of it.
Q: What did the position demand?
A: I had to keep up with the money and deposit it in the bank, write checks, buy stuff for the fellowship hall, order flowers if there was a death and pay the bills.
Q: What did you get from doing this activity?
A: I didn’t get anything other than the enjoyment out of it. I didn’t take any money for it.
Q: How did your family members support you while you served in this position?
A: They were proud that I was doing that. They all supported me.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in this activity in the future?
A: I’m still involved with it. I guess as long as I’m able to go to church, I’ll be involved with it.
Q: What difference will this position make for you in the future?
A: It just made me stronger to know that the church had that much confidence in me to work that long with it.
