What is wrong here? We as Southern Baptists send missionaries to an “unreached people group” in Guinea, and they help establish a Christian church proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Then we want to fire them because the church does not meet “IMB (International Mission Board) policy” in some way (which is unclear but it seems that the church does not have the word “Baptist” in its name).
What is important here, Southern Baptist doctrine or the gospel of Jesus Christ? Is forcing the Baptist Faith & Message doctrinal statements on others more important than sharing the good news of Christ? If we are more concerned with proclaiming Southern Baptist doctrine than with spreading the gospel, then the policy needs to be changed, and quickly.
