TAB Media encourages employees to be involved in missions and provides time off for volunteering. Two editorial team members recently served with their fellow church members.
Shawn Hendricks, TAB Media’s director of product management, traveled to New York in December with a team of college students from First Baptist Church Hendersonville, Tennessee.
The team helped Chris Mills, who is planting One Community Church with his wife, Sarah, in Hell’s Kitchen. During their trip, the team did everything from prayer walking and picking up trash to serving alongside other nonprofit ministries providing food for the poor. The team also stuffed gift bags for those in need and helped set up and tear down for Sunday worship.
“New York City is not an easy place at all to start a church,” Hendricks said. “But it was great to see how our church is all in on helping One Community make a difference in Hell’s Kitchen.”

Carrie McWhorter, TAB’s content editor, served in Huntsville with a team from Beulah Baptist Church in Muscadine, through a public-private partnership with the city. Team members put vinyl siding on the home of a low-income resident.
“While we were working, we learned YM Link on Mission will bring students to Huntsville this summer to do similar projects during an entire week devoted to missions service,” McWhorter said. “I’d advise student ministers to sign their high schoolers up now.”
YM Link on Mission, which is a ministry of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, will be in Huntsville from May 31 to June 4. Learn more about the program and student missions opportunities at ymlink.org.
