Hawk Nelson
Miracles
Fair Trade Services, 2018

Hawk Nelson’s brand of pop went from punk to polished years ago, but “Miracles,” the first album since their 2016 collection of early crunchy hooks, has turned the radio friendliness up so high I wouldn’t be surprised to hear “Weightless” in a commercial.

The band doesn’t break any new ground with these 10 sing-a-longable songs, but why reinvent the wheel? Lyrically, as the title suggests, they’re sticking with Jesus. “Even if you don’t see it now / Without a doubt, He’s already moving / There is not a pain that you hold / He doesn’t know, and He isn’t using.”
