New Prospect’s Vickers stresses need for strong families, missions mindset

Noel Vickers said his 40-plus years in ministry, including the past five years as pastor of New Prospect Baptist Church, Ashland, in Clay Baptist Association, have been spent trying to encourage people of all ages to be strong Christians in a rapidly changing world.

“It’s definitely changed since I was a young minister,” said Vickers. “There are a lot of moral issues that just weren’t issues back then. As pastors we’ve got to try to prepare people for a world that’s gone mad.”

He encourages parents to instill a love for Christ and the church and young girls and boys to be strong in the faith.

“I think we’re living in the greatest time in history as far as our opportunity for outreach goes,” he said. “We’ve got access to people in our country and other countries like never before, and we need to share with them.” (Grace Thornton)
