If it isn’t obvious by now, Inpop Records is preoccupied with aligning themselves with original Christian acts — original, talented and completely listenable. There is no better example of this than the label’s latest act, NewWorldSon.

At times reminiscent of Blues Traveler and Counting Crows, the band brings to the table an eclectic mix of styles ranging from soul to gospel to blues to even reggae.

But there is a quality present in “Salvation Station,” a certain something, that will protect the group from being labeled faddishly retro for retro’s sake. NewWorldSon is simply a talented band that knows how to have fun and play their instruments — and they’re rumored to have an almost life-changing live show. They will be touring with the Newsboys this fall.
