Nuss named director of collegiate ministries

The State Board of Missions (SBOM) voted to call Mike Nuss as director of collegiate ministries, effective July 1, during a meeting May 19. Nuss, who has served as campus minister at the University of South Alabama (USA) since 1985, succeeds Ruford Hodges, who retired at the end of 1999.

The director of collegiate ministries is charged with developing a strategic ministry plan for reaching students and exposing the to missions opportunities. Additionally, he is responsible for maintaining contacts with campus ministers employed by the SBOM and recommending to the executive director placement of campus ministers for new employment or transfers to other ministry centers.

Prior to coming to USA, Nuss worked as campus minister at colleges in Alabama, South Carolina and Kentucky. A graduate of the University of Montevallo and Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., Nuss and his wife, Judy, have two children.

Nuss is a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Mobile, where he is former director of Sunday School.
