Herbert Michael “Mike” Owen, who served as an International Mission Board (IMB) missionary for 32 years, died Oct. 28. He was 72.
Owen, a Gadsden native, earned a bachelor’s degree from Samford University in Birmingham and a master of theology degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He served as pastor of Brantleyville Church (now Community Baptist Church), Maylene, and two churches in Louisiana.
He and his wife, Kay, served with IMB in Cobán and Guatemala City, both in Guatemala, and a few years in North Africa.
He is survived by his wife, five children and 13 grandchildren.
