Parrish First Baptist Church recognized longtime minister Charles Underwood on May 15. He was ordained at FBC 60 years ago on May 6, 1962. Since that time he has led 14 churches in three states, including FBC. At age 88 he continues to preach.
Underwood said he had preached at more than 50 churches in the association and led revivals at more than 30 of the association’s congregations. He served in the U.S. Army during the end of the Korean War and was living in Arlington, Virginia, when he was saved and baptized. He holds a degree from the University of Alabama.
The deacons presented a plaque from the church, and Pastor Mark Kimbrell read certificates from Walker Association and the State Board of Missions.
He has three children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
