For Larry Doster, his new slab of concrete is a new beginning.
“We just had our foundation poured to get our house going again. Our house was totaled in the tornado,” said Doster, pastor of Lee Street Baptist Church, Enterprise, in Coffee Baptist Association. “But we are rebuilding. It’s like being at the beginning point again.”
His congregation as a whole took a hit when the March 1 tornado ripped through the city. The church lost part of the back of the sanctuary, and three families — including Doster’s — lost their homes. Four other families’ homes sustained major damage.
“But we’re coming back, slowly but surely,” Doster said with a smile.
A crew came in soon after the tornado and had the church patched up within three or four weeks, he said. And the congregation has reached out to its hurting members, offering housing and support.
“I can’t say enough about our church and how tremendous they’ve been. They’ve been our support system, our encouragers,” Doster said. “The Lord has really provided for us.” (TAB)
