HYDERABAD, India — Hindu extremists attacking a church in southern India repeatedly kicked a pastor’s wife in the face, rendering her unconscious, and tried to snatch her Bible from her.
Persia Jacob, 38, clasped the Bible close to her heart as they tried to seize it during the March 11 attack.
“I will die but I can’t do without the Bible,” she said.
Attackers wrestled the Bible from her hands, pushed and slapped her and stripped her of her sari.
Her husband, Pastor Ravi Jacob, 41, was dragged out of the service and beaten.
Ravi Jacob said the attackers seized Bibles, his cellphone and church equipment they later burned. (MS)
