The Song Within
Autumn Records
It’s official — Phil Keaggy is actually inspiring himself. So good is Keaggy with six strings, so easy has it become for him that he can with minimal effort pick up a guitar, hit record and leave behind a masterpiece. Such is a case with “The Song Within,” his latest collection of “spontaneous guitar pieces” played on mysteriously amazing McPherson instruments.
Strains of Keaggy’s immense back catalog (2007 saw him down 50 percent in production from 2006 — he only released three albums) can be heard throughout the 16 tracks, including his guitar lines from the Keith Green standard “Your Love Broke Through.” This record is another great addition to an already spectacular body of work.
