Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Salem, celebrated its sesquicentennial anniversary June 28. Special guests included former pastor Richie Ashburn who led in prayer. Pastor Jordan Hoge shared a message from Hebrews 10:23 using photos of former members and church activities to illustrate perseverance and faithfulness through the years. Calvin Milford, a commissioner with the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented a commemorative plaque to the church with three long-standing members, Sandra Horne, Quinton Horne and Polly Davis, and Hoge accepting the honor. A meal was served following the service.
