‘Privileged’ position with schools

This year, the Board of Aid for Students in Church Related Vocations awarded 219 scholarships, totaling $343,354, to students at the three Alabama Baptist institutions of higher education: Judson College in Marion, Samford University in Birmingham and the University of Mobile.

Another $9,520 went to students enrolled in Samford’s Extension Division.

The Education Commission held three joint meetings this year with the three colleges’ presidents or their representatives to discuss finances, academics and student life.

“We are very privileged in Alabama to have three institutions that are training men and women to be confident in the marketplace and grow in the knowledge and grace of Christ as their Savior,” said Jerry Henry, chairman of the Education Commission and pastor of First Baptist Church, Fairhope. (TAB)
