Albert George “Bro. Al” Dykeman, 90, of Jackson, died June 22. A New York native, Dykeman was a radar instructor at Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi, Mississippi, during the Korean War. He left the military to answer a call to ministry. He held degrees from Howard Payne University and New Orleans Seminary.
He was a pastor for 62 years at churches in Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
While serving as pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church, Opelika, he taught in the Samford University extension program. He retired from full-time ministry in October 2017 from West Bend Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeraline Chance; daughter, Gina Dykeman; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
