The National Opinion Research Center (NORC) has awarded a $25,000 grant to Franz Lohrke, marketing and management department chair at Samford’s Brock School of Business, to co-author, along with Barbara Bird, associate professor of management at American University in Washington, D.C., two studies on start-up firms and the reasons some succeed and some fail.
The two professors were among a very select group who were awarded funding for these studies from the prestigious NORC, based out of the University of Chicago.
Lohrke and Bird plan to publish the findings of their studies in both academic journals and the business press.
