Samford graduate programs recognized nationally

Samford University graduate programs in business, education, law and nursing received national recognition in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report graduate rankings released March 20.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) program in Ida Moffett School of Nursing was ranked 58th nationally, a jump from their 2018 ranking of 81st nationally. Master’s degree programs in nursing were ranked 78th, a move up 14 spots from the 2018 ranking. Both nursing programs are recognized among the top tier in the nation.

“The latest rankings are a testament to the strength of our graduate programs in Ida Moffett School of Nursing,” said Nena F. Sanders, vice provost of Samford’s College of Health Sciences and nursing school dean. “Our programs align with the demands of today’s dynamic health care environment, and we maintain a strong commitment to student success. ”

The trial advocacy program in Cumberland School of Law continues to be ranked in the top 10 nationally, where it has been ranked for several years.

Recently, the law school’s trial competition teams swept the south regional portion of the National Trial Competition, and each team advanced to the upcoming national finals.

Business degrees

Graduate programs in Brock School of Business and Orlean Beeson School of Education were included in the top 200 of their peers across the United States. Samford offers master of business administration and master of accountancy degrees in business, and a doctor of education and a master of science in education with several concentrations.

Samford Provost J. Michael Hardin said, “While rankings are only one measure of a university’s effectiveness, we always are pleased when our programs receive national recognition.” (Samford)
