Samford University has signed an agreement to partner with the Baptist School of Amman in Amman, Jordan. The agreement was signed by Thomas E. Corts, president to Samford; Brian Barlow, director of the Baptist School; Suha Jouaneh Shahin, principal; and Nabeeh Abbassi, president of the Jordan Baptist Convention.
The program will provide an opportunity for the teachers and administrators of the Baptist School to learn the latest methodologies, leadership skills and educational practices currently being practiced in the United States.
The Baptist sister-school in Jordan shares much of the same prestige in its own country. Established in 1974, it is one of Jordan’s oldest private Christian schools. The school is currently considered one of the best school’s in the kingdom in a predominately Muslim country. Both schools hope to enhance relations between their institutions and benefit from the cultural exchange, especially in the area of teacher education.
