Two Southern Baptist chaplains from Alabama, who happen to be best friends, were honored for their decades of military service June 14 during a chaplains’ breakfast hosted by the North American Mission Board.
Rear Adm. Endel Lee retired last fall from the U.S. Navy, and Cmdr. Scott Morton retired in 2019. They met nearly 40 years ago as students at the University of Mobile, both attended Southwestern Baptist Seminary and the two men have maintained a strong friendship amid similar work.
The Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders gathered for the second day of their 2-day meeting.
This year’s SEND Conference continued with breakout sessions for pastors, women, kids, students and young adults.
The SBC Executive Committee met this morning. In the business session, a motion to add to the meeting’s agenda a discussion of the expansion of a third-party investigation of the EC and its handling of sexual abuse allegations within convention churches failed to garner enough votes.
