SBC elects Alabama Baptists to serve on boards

Messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) elected members of SBC boards during the annual meeting June 13–14. Several Alabama Baptists were among those elected.

• John P. Harvill Jr., member of First Baptist Church, North Mobile, in  Saraland, and Bryan E. Easley, minister of administration at East Memorial Baptist Church, Prattville, were elected to serve a second term on the SBC Executive Committee, expiring in 2010.

• James T. “Tim” Wilkes, member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, Mobile — GuideStone Financial Resources, term expiring 2010.

• Linda J. Applegarth, member of Taylor Road Baptist Church, Montgomery — International Mission Board, term expiring 2007.

• Ray Jones, pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Dothan — International Mission Board, term expiring 2010.

• Larry E. Gipson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Oneonta — North American Mission Board, term expiring 2007.

• Rickey E. Camp, pastor of Sonrise Baptist Church, Mobile — North American Mission Board, term expiring 2010.

• Ellie W. Ficken, member of Vaughn Forest Baptist Church, Montgomery, was elected to serve a second term on the board of the North American Mission Board, expiring in 2010.

• Rick Evans, pastor of Dalraida Baptist Church, Montgomery, was elected to serve a second term on the board of LifeWay Christian Resources, expiring in 2010.

• Clint C. Pressley, pastor of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, Mobile — Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., term expiring 2011. (BP)

Alabama Baptists who served during the annual meeting in Greensboro, N.C., were John Killian, chairman of the Committee on Committees; Craig Carlisle, Committee on Committees; John Nixon, Credentials Committee; and Jack Lovelace and Mark McClelland, Tellers Committee.
