Linda Pickelsimer is someone you should know because she is the secretary for Citizens Caring for Children, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that strives to serve as the steward of Jesus Christ in seeking out, combating and defeating any evil facing the children of Alabama, such as alcohol, gambling, pornography, abortion and all other immoral activities.

Q: Why have you done this activity?

A: There are certain opportunities that come your way in life and this was one that I felt very strongly about. Children are precious and there are many things out there that will harm them, and I felt that I had to take a stand.

Q: What does working for this organization demand?

A: Time and commitment. Citizens Caring for Children exists today because of the prayer and financial support of the church families of our Cherokee Association and Lookout Mountain Baptist Association.

Q: What do you get out of volunteering?

A: A dear Sunday School teacher once told me that if you see a need, meet it. I saw there was a need, and I tried to meet it.

Q: How does your family support you?

A: They support me totally. Without the support of my family, it would be very difficult to do this. My husband feels as strongly about this organization as I do, and he helps with any needs that arise.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?

A: I plan to continue serving as secretary/treasurer as long as I am elected by the board of directors.

Q: What difference will this organization make for you in the future?

A: I will be more conscious of anything that might harm our children and be more aware of ways that I can help to protect them. I hope to provide moral and spiritual guidance in any way that I can.
