The Alabama Baptist newspaper has been approved for full membership in the Alabama Press Association (APA). After more than 45 years as an associate member, the state Baptist paper joins 132 other papers in the full membership category. It is the second largest circulated paper in the state with more than 78,000 subscribers.
President and Editor Bob Terry wrote in an application requesting full membership, “We believe our professionalism, our content, our role in the community we serve and our purpose all qualify the publication for active membership in APA.”
In continuous circulation since February 1843, the weekly state Baptist paper provides information helpful to its readers including senior lifestyle, education, teen culture, finances, world issues, faith and church life, moral and ethical concerns, family and community, health care and more.
The Alabama Baptist also is sold at 11 commercial bookstores in the state.
It has received the Outstanding Christian Newspaper award from several ecumenical religious press organizations.
APA approved The Alabama Baptist on July 17.
APA is the state trade association of daily and weekly newspapers in Alabama.
