Danny Carroll Cotton, who was pastor of Oldfield Baptist Church in Sylacauga, died June 21. He was 70.
Cotton, who has served Oldfield Baptist since 2020, was a native of Talladega. He attended the University of Montevallo before serving in the U.S. Navy for 8 years (1977–1985). He worked for Frontrunners for more than 30 years and MeSun Inc. for another 15 years. He also was pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church (1989–2018). He served as a financial ministry assistant at the Coosa River Baptist Association for the last four years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Cotton; three children; six grandchildren; a sister and a brother.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on June 26 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Visitation will by from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the ceremony at Patton Chapel Cemetery.
