Paula Stacey is someone you should know. Throughout her 29-year career as an English teacher at Monroe Academy in Monroeville, she has received numerous awards including induction into the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Hall of Fame, AISA Secondary Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Alumna of Judson College. She also serves on The Alabama Baptist board of directors.

Q: Why have you put so much energy and passion into teaching?

A: I feel that God has called me to be a teacher to influence especially older teenagers.

Q: What does teaching demand?

A: To put yourself in the student’s shoes.

Q: What do you get from it?

A: The gratification that I’ve been an encouragement to the students.

Q: What led you to teach?

A: God just laid it on my heart when I was a senior in high school that that was what He wanted me to do.

Q: How do your family members support you?

A: They recognize my love for the students and understand that I want to spend time with them.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?

A: Basically just to keep influencing the kids in a positive way.

Q: What difference will teaching make for you in the future?

A: Just to apply my Christian lifestyle to my career.
