Livin’ With the Light On
Crossroads
“Livin’ With the Light On” grabs your attention right away with an a cappella version of Sandi Patty’s “There Is a Savior.” Many recordings would have saved a strong cut like this for last, but it works well at the beginning. “If the Rocks Could Talk” is next, an upbeat track decorated by harmonica. “Heaven to Me” slows the pace with a 6/8-meter and a classic style of orchestration. An electric guitar sets the stage initially for “Lift up the Cross,” a song that starts softly and slowly builds to a big finish.
The Crist Family offers a considerable range of musical styles on “Livin’ With the Light On.” The novelty photo on the CD cover and several humorous poses inside demonstrate that the group doesn’t take itself too seriously. At the same time, the inclusion of the plan of salvation on the CD tray card indicates the group is serious where it really counts.
