Precious Seed
Crossroads Music
Psalm 126:6 says, “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Since 1954, Ruben, Peg, Sheryl and Connie McKamey have sowed the seed of the gospel everywhere they have traveled. If you have ever experienced The McKameys live in concert or spent any time with them one on one you know that before they ever take the stage they have prepared themselves in the storehouse of the Savior.
Let’s sit back and listen with a fertile heart as The McKameys continue to sow their “Precious Seed.”
One of the songs on “Precious Seed” that Peg sings is a great testimony song written by Sheryl, “Nothing But Grace,” which gives credit where credit is due. Our life as believers is all owed to the grace of God.
Peg also takes the lead on “Story Untold,” which reminds us that the best is yet to come for the child of God. Sheryl also is featured on “I Am a Vessel” and her own song, “When He Speaks.” Sheryl possesses a certain quality in her voice that is filled with a passion and sincerity that reaches right into your soul.
Connie sings one of my favorite songs on this record. “The Touch” says exactly what I feel about the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. I, too, would not trade anything this world holds in exchange for the touch of the Comforter.
Some people might have been under the impression that Roger Fortner does not speak but — brace yourself — in fact, he actually sings. Roger usually lets his guitars do the talking, but on “Precious Seed” we are introduced to his vocals on the Steve Chapman song, “Unspoken Request.” This is a great story song that lends itself well to Roger’s genuine balladeer sound.
OK, McKameys fans, for classic southern gospel, turn up “Story Untold” and “When I Think About Heaven.” If you need proof that The McKameys are more than what you thought, turn up “Unspoken Request” or “Finish Well.”
