David Earl Tinsley Sr., who served for years as a minister of music, youth and senior adults, died Jan. 12. He was 75.
A native of Laurens, South Carolina, Tinsley earned bachelor and master of music degrees from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. After a few years of teaching music in the public school system, he felt called to serve in music, youth and eventually senior adult ministry.
During his years of ministry, Tinsley served several Alabama Baptist congregations — First Baptist Church Headland, First Baptist Church Slocomb and Bellwood Baptist Church. He also served other churches in the state as well as Mississippi, Arkansas and Georgia.
After his retirement, he worked for a decade as a bus driver for special needs children in Dothan City Schools.
Tinsley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice; daughters, Rebecca and Laura Grace; son, David Jr.; and 10 grandchildren.
