After being charged with leaving the scene of an accident, Vince Lovell, security director for The Basement youth ministry, has a court date set for Feb. 14, according to al.com.
Lovell drove a Chevy Tahoe away from an accident after a collision with a van Oct. 13 in Trussville, al.com reported.
The SUV, decorated with “#FreePitt” graphics, crossed the center line on Chalkville Mountain Road and hit a Ryder moving van at 12:22 p.m. that day. Lovell claims the Ryder van crossed the center line and damaged the driver door and mirror, al.com reported. He also claims he has been harassed by Trussville police. He was in city court previously and “pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to yield and two citations for improper tags,” according to al.com.
The “#FreePitt” graphics were in reference to Matt Pitt, founder of The Basement, who is being held in Shelby County Jail for “violating probation set after he pleaded guilty to impersonating an officer” in 2012, al.com reported.
Lovell is charged with two misdemeanor charges related to the Oct. 13 accident.
