Trussville’s Toole places fourth in Miss America

Miss Alabama Melinda Toole, a member of NorthPark Baptist Church, Trussville, in Birmingham Baptist Association, placed fourth in the 2007 Miss America Pageant Jan. 29.

Toole was also named Miss Congeniality and second runner-up for the pageant’s Quality of Life Award, which is given in recognition of contestants’ community service work.

For the first time, TV viewers joined the pageant contestants in casting their votes for the Miss Congeniality Award through Internet voting. Toole received $11,000 in scholarship money.
