Two Alabama Baptists were among 95 appointed as International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries during a May 23 service at Hoffmantown Church, Albuquerque, N.M.
Fritz and Karyn Koehring will leave their Birmingham home to plant churches among the deaf people of the Czech Republic. Both of the Koehrings were born deaf and use sign language.
Fritz Koehring has served as a church planter in Boston, pastor to the deaf in Raleigh, N.C., interim pastor of Open Bible Deaf Church in College Park, Md., and associational minister with First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, Fla. The couple has also worked with the IMB in Central and Eastern Europe. They have two sons, Caleb Fritz, 12, and Jacob Ralph, 10. (TAB)
