NEW DELHI, India — Radical Hindus are suspected in the brutal murders of two Christians in India earlier this month.
The bodies of a man and his nephew were discovered on a roadside June 10. They had been stabbed multiple times and sustained other injuries as well, human rights group International Christian Concern reported.
Local Christians believe the two men were killed because of their faith. Sources told ICC they had accepted Jesus as Savior in February 2020. The men not only attended a small church in their village but also led worship services when the pastor was absent.
About three months ago some community members threatened the men and the congregation and insisted that they stop praying. The men chose to exercise their faith, sources said.
ICC reported targeting of Christians in India is occurring with greater frequency. The country is No. 10 on Open Doors’ 2022 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
