UM unveiled a portrait of the late Hildagarde Reynolds, nursing educator, during a March 16 reception.
Lenora Stringfellow, retired associate professor of nursing at UM, painted the portrait, which will hang in UM’s J.L. Bedsole Library.
Reynolds worked with the leaders of then-Mobile College to bring the associate degree in nursing program to the school in 1973 and was named chair of the division of nursing, which later became UM’s school of nursing. She also founded the bachelor of science in nursing program in 1978.
Reynolds was inducted into the Alabama Nurses Hall of Fame in 2003.
