University Baptist Church, Huntsville, celebrated John Givan’s 40th anniversary as organist Aug. 25. Givan came to University Baptist in August 1973 and has served the Lord under the leadership of six pastors and four music ministers. The church presented Givan with a monetary gift and placed a hydrangea in his honor at the Volunteer Garden in the Huntsville Botanical Gardens where he frequently volunteers. The church choir presented him with an oil portrait of himself at the organ, which is to be exhibited at the church. Givan also has served as a Sunday School teacher, RA leader, handbell ringer and deacon and has served on several missions trips. Bobby Burt is pastor.
