Members of churches in the Mobile Baptist Association saw fresh faces behind their pulpits on Sept. 28.
Students in the University of Mobile’s Ministerial Association preached in several local churches on what has become known as “M-Day” or “Mobile Day.”
“M-Day started out when the school was still called Mobile College,” said Dale Younce, a UM religion professor who also acts as sponsor of the Ministerial Association (MA). “It is a day when pastors in local associations open their pulpits to student-preachers.”
The association is a group of students, predominantly religion majors, who recognize that the Lord has called them to serve regardless of the vocations they pursue.
M-Days give those young men who have been called to preach an opportunity to do so.
“They also provide churches with opportunities to meet the future Baptist State Convention leaders and the future pastors of their churches,” said Younce.
There are usually three M-Days held each semester.
M-Days will be held later this fall in the Washington County Association and the Conecuh County Association.
MA members who preached Sept. 28 are: Jason Faulk, Tanner; Daniel Lott, Birmingham; Bryant Meredith, Grand Bay; K.J. Pugh, Sylacauga; Ben Robinson, Montgomery; Stephen Webb, Sylacauga; Jon Wiggins, Tuscaloosa; and Parker Windle, Carrollton.
