Wade joins Baptist staff as assistant editor

Anthony Wade is the latest addition to The Alabama Baptist. He joined the staff as assistant editor April 1.

“I appreciate the opportunity to be associated with The Alabama Baptist, a paper that has earned the respect of the journalistic and religious communities alike,” Wade said.

“Along with strong journalistic talents and a calling to the ministry of the state Baptist paper, Wade also brings technological and organizational skills,” said Editor Bob Terry.

Wade has worked from Mobile as a correspondent for the paper since December 1997. For the Baptist he has reported complex social, health care and business topics, as well as state, national and international topics.

He has more than 12 years of journalism experience writing and photographing news and features as a correspondent for The Mobile Register. He was assistant editor of The Vanguard, the newspaper of the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He graduated from the same university in June 1991 with his B.A. in communication arts/journalism. He is a 1983 graduate of William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he earned his B.A. in biblical studies/church vocations.

Wade is a member of the Religion Communicators Council, a national organization. He was a member of the board of directors of the Press Club of Mobile in the mid-1990s and is a past member of the Society of Professional journalists.
