Whittington retires from FBC Glencoe pastorate

Vince Whittington retired as pastor of First Baptist Church, Glencoe, in Etowah Baptist Association May 27. He served there eight years.

Before coming to First, Glencoe, Whittington served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Monroeville (1981–1990); First Baptist Church, Oxford (1991–1993); and Macedonia Baptist Church, Gadsden (1994–1998). He graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., in 1969 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1976.

While his immediate plans include assisting with some family health issues, Whittington and his wife, Lynda, also hope to work with the International Mission Board in short-term missions.
