Since becoming a Christian in high school, Ty Williams has devoted his life not only to serving the Lord in church but also to serving Him by making a difference in children’s lives. Although his background is in health care, Williams has spent the last eight years working at Restoration Academy, a private, urban Christian school in Fairfield that serves low-income, at-risk children in grades K4 through 12.

Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: Although I went to church with my family growing up, it was really in high school through Fellowship of Christian Athletes that I started a relationship with Christ.

Q: How did you first get involved with Restoration Academy?
A: I am a member of a rotary club, and I heard about it at a rotary meeting. I had wanted to get involved, to volunteer there. The director approached me about a full-time position. My background is health care, so I didn’t think I would be there for very long. It has been eight years now since I started there.

Q: What has God taught you during your time serving Restoration Academy?
A: Truly His awesomeness. Just to witness God’s transformation in their (the children’s) lives, as well as the impact others can have in a ministry such as ours.

Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: It has made all the difference in the world. It has centered me and allowed me to focus on what is really important. And that is definitely not the material things of this world, but the relationships.
