Wilson marks 30 years at Alabama WMU

For 30 years Cindy Wilson has been a behind-the-scenes anchor for Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU).

“Cindy has often said, ‘This is not a job but a ministry,’ and that is how she approaches every aspect of her work, whether answering a question or preparing the financials,” said Candace McIntosh, executive director of Alabama WMU. “It is all for the Kingdom in Cindy’s heart and mind.”

Since 1993, Wilson has served as assistant to Alabama WMU’s executive director, serving McIntosh and Beverly Miller, the previous executive director. She served the five years before that as the office receptionist.

“She is really the go-to person in our office,” McIntosh said. “She has experienced every aspect of the work of Alabama WMU. She is a valuable resource and we are so grateful to have her.”

McIntosh recently honored Wilson’s three decades of service with a brick in her honor in National WMU’s new Walk of Faith garden. The walk, built on New Hope Mountain in Birmingham, recognizes missions heroes past and present.

“She is consistent, hardworking and goes above and beyond in everything she does,” McIntosh wrote about Wilson. “The mission and ministry of Alabama WMU is stronger and better because of her servant’s heart.” (Grace Thornton)
