Q: How did you become involved with Judson College?
A: Three of my aunts attended Judson, and my Uncle Fred married a Judson girl. My father was also keen on Judson. I promised him I’d go one semester and planned to leave when my promise was fulfilled but I became attached.

Q: What led you into the field of cancer detection?
A: My interest in cancer developed as several members of my family were diagnosed with various cancers. My father died of colon cancer when I was in college. So I started taking courses I thought would lead me into the medical field. I became involved with cancer detection working first with human tissue. Then I studied at Cornell University in New York under the doctor who founded the Pap smear test.

Q: What did you get from this work?
A: My satisfaction was thinking that I had a part in saving others’ lives.

Q: How have you stayed involved with Judson through the years?
A: I’m active in the Judson alumni group of Mobile and Baldwin counties.
