Rick Lance (left), executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, was awarded Southern Baptist Theological Seminary‘s E.Y. Mullins Award for Distinguished Denominational Leadership on June 14.
Described as Southern Seminary’s “highest award” by seminary president Albert Mohler Jr., the award has been bestowed on only three others (Thom Rainer, 2014; Paige Patterson, 2001; and Jimmy Draper, 1998), according to a news release by Southern Seminary.
The award notes Lance’s “example of commitment” to the Southern Baptist Convention and its work and his long commitment to pastoral ministry and theological conviction.
In presenting the award, Mohler recognized the generosity of Alabama Baptists with their gifts through the Cooperative Program. He also noted that the Alabama Baptist State Convention is the largest single donor to Southern Seminary in its history. (Jennifer Davis Rash)
