On March 15, 1845, 10 people gathered in a home to discuss forming a church. This year on March 15, Evergreen Baptist Church celebrated its 175th anniversary.

Rick Lance, executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM), preached and presented a certificate from the SBOM.

The church choir performed a special song — “Find Us Faithful,” and a brief history of the church was included in the bulletin.

Rod Marshall, president of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, brought greetings, and Lonette Berg, executive directory of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented the church with a certificate.

Church memorabilia was on display, including photos of former pastors, a wooden communion set, church directories and Woman’s Missionary Union history. Lunch followed the celebration in the fellowship hall.

“It was a time to focus on the faithfulness of God and the faithfulness of our people,” Pastor Mark Whittington said. (Conecuh)
