ABUJA, Nigeria — The death toll among Nigeria’s Christians continues to rise as ongoing persecution has claimed 46 more lives.
The onslaught against Christians in Nigeria has spanned many years, resulting in Nigeria being considered the deadliest place in the world to be a believer.
The following are recent reports from Christian Daily International and Morning Star News:
— Jan. 7: Assailants invaded three villages in Logo County in Benue State, killing 10 Christians.
— Jan. 17: Six Christians were slain in simultaneous raids upon the villages of Butura Kampani and Gada in Bokkos County in Plateau state. Muslim Fulani herdsmen and others were identified as the assailants.
— Jan. 18: Five Christians lost their lives when Fulani herdsmen and others raided Okokolo village and eight other villages in Benue State. Also reportedly killed trying to defend Okokolo were two soldiers and a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.
— Jan. 22–24: Attacks upon three villages and three towns in Mangu County in Plateau state left about 25 Christians dead. Fulani herdsmen and others are believed to be responsible for the attacks.
