Hymns: A Place of Worship

While many artists are releasing contemporary worship albums these days, the members of 4HIM felt a strong desire to return to the roots of their own worship experiences. The result of this pilgrimage is a collection of 14 songs of faith rendered in typical 4HIM fashion. “Hymns: A Place of Worship” is full of songs that are deeply embedded in tradition, yet their message remains fresh.

In preparation for this project, the members of 4HIM researched the history of each hymn. Some of the songs on the album have origins that are more than 1,000 years old. Regardless of when each hymn was composed, the thing that stood out to the group was the timeless message of each song.  In arranging each hymn in a contemporary setting, 4HIM found it refreshing that they did not have to reinvent the songs. The desire of the group was to sing each hymn in such a way that the songs were able to tell their own story.

With songs like “Be Thou My Vision,” “The Love of God,” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” “Hymns” is guaranteed to offer a place of familiarity to each listener. The timelessness of these songs of faith will inspire as well as encourage the listener. 4HIM has done a wonderful job of paying homage to some of the most well known hymns throughout history. These stories of generations past will continue to teach.
