What an interesting little book this is. I was expecting a standard devotional-type book with a Bible verse, a “lesson learned” and a discussion question or two but that doesn’t describe this book at all.
Actually I’m not sure exactly how to describe this book. The “little lessons” are indeed little; each one is under three pages long and most are two pages. The content, however, is anything but little. The author has obviously put a lot of effort into the project, filling the lessons with historical and literary background as well as bringing in commentary from others on the play “A Christmas Carol.”
Most of all the lessons are deep and meaningful, challenging the readers to examine themselves and how their actions impact others. At the end of the book the reader, like Scrooge himself, might just find him- or herself a changed person. If I were awarding stars I’d give this one all five.
