The Alabama Baptist (TAB) encourages staff members to be trained in Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief (ABDR) and counts the time spent helping with disaster relief as work time.
On April 25–27 another TAB staff member, executive assistant Cynthia Watts, was trained in ABDR, this time at Valleydale Baptist Church, Birmingham. Watts was the fourth staff member to go through disaster relief training, following Susan Stevens and Janet Erwin in mass feeding, and Bill Gilmore in mudout work.
Watts was trained in chaplaincy and is looking forward to serving the citizens of Alabama the next time disaster strikes.
“I am so excited to be trained in disaster relief and to be able to minister to and share the hope of Christ with those affected by natural disasters,” Watts said.
Disaster can strike without warning, and when it does teams are ready and waiting across Alabama — and across the country — to jump into action and provide for any possible needs whether physical, spiritual or emotional.
