On March 31, 2021, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering surpassed $5 billion in total gifts since 1888, when an offering for Southern Baptist international missionaries was first collected, International Mission Board leaders announced.
The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is an annual offering collected by believers around the world for international missions, with 100% of the gifts used to support Southern Baptist international missionaries.
“I praise God for this significant milestone in giving through the Lottie offering as it indicates that the love of Southern Baptists for the lost has not waned, nor has their commitment to sending and supporting missionaries through the IMB,” said Paul Chitwood, IMB president.
Through funding from the Cooperative Program and the LMCO, statistics gathered since 1845 indicate the IMB has sent more than 25,000 missionaries, representing 228,000 years of service, to serve in 189 countries.
