ABUJA, Nigeria — Militants killed at least 43 Christians in Nigeria, as ongoing violence has prompted thousands to gather together to pray for peace and evangelism.
Adherents to the militant group Islamic State West African Province attacked four villages in Kaduna state June 5, killing at least 32, the human rights group International Christian Concern (ICC) reported. According to an eye witness, the militants also abducted more than 20 other Christians and demanded ransom for their return.
On June 12, at least 11 Christians were murdered when suspected Muslim Fulani herdsmen raided Igama village in Benue state, the population of which is mostly Christian.
Prayer effort
Believers from various denominations gathered in Jos, Nigeria, early in June to pray about the relentless attacks Muslim Fulani herdsmen perpetrate upon Christians, ICC reported.
Nigeria is No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2022 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian. From October 2020 through September 2021 Nigeria led the world in the number of Christians killed (4,650) or kidnapped (2,500) for their faith, Morning Star News said.
