KAMPALA, Uganda — A couple who recently put their faith in Jesus Christ were slashed to death Feb. 2 outside their home in Uganda while their four young children were inside the house.
Slain for their faith were Twaha Namwoyo, 38, and his wife, Nadiimu Katooko, 27, reports Morning Star News. The couple’s children — ages 2, 3, 5 and 7 — were inside the home during the attack, which occurred in Bulalaka village in Kibuku District of Uganda.
Left at the scene were Somali swords, knives and an ax, possibly to warn others of the consequences of leaving Islam for Christianity, Morning Star quoted a neighbor as saying.
A friend said the couple — formerly Muslims — put their faith in Jesus Christ on Dec. 5, 2023.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim. Uganda’s constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, the World Atlas reports.
