Jerald Adams, who served 45 years as a pastor in north Alabama, died March 1. He was 83.
Adams grew up at Vinemont Baptist Church and met his wife, Joyace, there when he was 6 and she was 2. He gave his life to Christ at age 10. Later, he was serving as a deacon at Bellview Heights Baptist Church in Cullman when he felt called to be a pastor.
From there, Adams served as a pastor for 45 years in six churches — Panama Baptist and Ebenezer Baptist in Vinemont; Baldwin Heights Baptist and Brickyard Baptist in Cullman; Paden Baptist in Gadsden; and New Friendship Baptist in Union Grove. He also taught and coached in the Cullman County School System for more than 20 years, spending most of that time at Jones Chapel Junior High School.
Adams is survived by his wife of 61 years; son, Stuart; daughter, Suzaun; and several grandchildren.
